The Landscape Group has just established its subsidiary, Landscape Carbon Global pty ltd., to advance carbon asset development and management in Indonesia and globally. In Indonesia, Landscape Carbon Global manages a number of carbon asset development projects through the development of nature based and energy transition projects. The Landscape Group, through Landscape Advisory, also provides strategic advice to global multilateral institutions, governments, and major private sector companies in climate and carbon sectors.
Landscape Carbon Global has also established the Climate Collective, a platform that provides project developers in Indonesia and elsewhere to collectively reduce risks, increase integrity and bankability, and negotiate for better benefits with investors, buyers, regulators, and standards.
The Landscape Group is seeking a talented person to join us as Operations Manager, Carbon and Environmental Assets. This position is initially a full-time consultancy (40 hours per week). The Operations Manager will build and run the end-to-end engine that originates, structures, verifies, and commercializes high-integrity carbon and environmental assets for The Landscape Group. The role spans pipeline development, project delivery, compliance and registries, monitoring-reporting-verification (MRV), and commercialization support across nature-based and technology-based solutions.
Specifically, the Operations Manager will have his/ her scope of work as follows.
- Pipeline and origination. Find projects in which Landscape Carbon Global can put as internal investment and project development portfolio.
- Manage portfolio in the Carbon Collective and engage with the members of the collective.
- Project management. Develop signed up projects to become projects that will produce high-integrity carbon and other ecological assets. This includes managing relationships with investors, buyers, standards, regulators, and others to develop project design documents (PDDs), validate them, ensure that they get financed sufficiently, implement them, manage monitoring and reporting as well as verification (MRV) process, and manage carbon and other ecological asset issuances.
- Manage monetization of the carbon and other ecological assets.
- Assist advisory activities in Landscape Advisory on carbon and other ecosystem asset issues.
Required qualifications
- Early career master’s degree in environmental science, forestry, engineering, geospatial science, natural resources, economics; business; finance; or related field; understanding of economic and finance is a plus. Five years of progressive experience in carbon or environmental asset development, including direct responsibility for taking projects from feasibility through issuance. Exceptional candidate may be considered for fresh graduate masters’ degree.
- Good understanding of and strong willingness to learn about carbon and ecosystem market mechanisms, including avoided deforestation/degradation (REDD+), afforestation, reforestation, and restoration (ARR), mangrove/blue carbon, peatland rewetting, agricultural methane or nitrous oxide reduction, landfill or wastewater methane, renewable energy or energy efficiency, and early retirement of coal-fired power plants under leading standards. Understanding of or willingness to learn about data analysis and management including geospatial analysis and remote sensing. Understanding of community benefit safeguarding through the process of free and prior informed consent (FPIC), development of shared agreement for community benefit sharing, and other community engagements.
- Strong program and portfolio management skills: multi-project scheduling, budgeting, risk management, vendor management, and contract administration.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences; strong written documentation capabilities.
- Fluency in English and Indonesian. Additional regional language skills are an advantage.
