In collaboration with The Nature Conservancy, developing a Sustainable Land Bond (SLB), as an innovative financing mechanism for the Government of Indonesia to fund a wide variety of interventions aimed at improving rural livelihoods while substantially reducing net carbon emissions from forests and other land-use in a manner consistent with the country’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC). Such interventions could include forest protection, restoration of peatland and other degraded areas, enhancement of smallholder land tenure, and support of improved sustainable agricultural practices. In addition to achieving emission reductions, these interventions should also improve rural livelihoods and help Indonesia achieve its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Develop a roadmap and narrative for establishing Indonesia’s Sustainability-Linked Bond (SLB) through rapid regulatory, institutional, and sectoral analysis; stakeholder engagement across ministries and sub-national governments; alignment with MRV and national emissions registries; mapping of priority project pipelines and private sector roles; and defining the critical path, reporting requirements, and outreach strategy for SLB launch.
