Provision of energy in the conservation landscapes will create opportunities for the community to progress through alternative livelihoods beyond land-based, in addition to providing better educational opportunities and overall quality of life. More importantly, provision of energy will create opportunities for downstream industries for the agricultural sectors. Renewable energy is the most appropriate energy for such purpose not only because it is overall more environmentally friendly and carbon-free (thus climate-friendly), but in most cases it is also the most cost-effective. Landscape Indonesia is currently partnering with Aria Watala in developing several solar-biomass hybrid power plants all over Indonesia. Additionally, due to the financial attractiveness of solar energy, Landscape Indonesia is currently penetrating roof-top solar panel market in urban areas.
