Abstract
Increasing resilience through nature-based recovery in Aceh, North Sumatera, and West Sumatera.
The floods that struck northern Sumatera were preceded by a measurable loss of the landscape's own capacity to hold water. Reconstruction can rebuild what was there, or it can rebuild the catchment — restoring upstream forest and riparian buffers, and treating that restoration as flood infrastructure with a budget line rather than as an environmental add-on.
